Experience in Amantani and Lake Titicaca Islands (2 days)

What will you do ?

One of the largest reserve of water in the world, Lake Titicaca lies on the border between Peru and Bolivia - with a history of habitation by the indigenous Uros dating back to pre-Columbian days. On this 2-day tour, we got to know the Uros and Taquile Islands a little about local life and stayed with a local family on Amantani Island.

Day 1:

At 07:45 departure from the hotel in transport, heading to Puno's Port.

The tour starts with a visit to the Uros Islands. On these reed islands we will take a full guided tour, which will provide an overview of the daily life of the local inhabitants and a bit of history to learn how these man-made islands came into being.

In the second part of the tour we will sail to Amantani Island, crossing the Titicaca for approximately 3 hours.

Upon your arrival you will be taken to the family´s house you will be spendind the night in.

After you settle into your private room, they will offer typical island food for lunch (with options for vegans). In the afternoon, you will spend some time with the family, interacting with them and participating in inter-cultural activities and games. You can also take a one-hour hike (uphill) to the temple of Pachamama and Pachatata, from where you can get stunning views of the sunset over the world's highest navigable lake. Dinner will be served around 7 pm at the local house. Overnight on the island.

Day 2:

After having breakfast with the family, we will continue our journey. We will board the ferry to Taquile Island. Once here, we will take a 40-minute hike uphill. Here, our tour guide will talk to you about the art and textile traditions of this place, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Around noon, time for lunch (Not included) . After lunch you will be boarding the boat back to Puno. Around 16:00, when you arrive in Puno, where you will be met for hotel transfer in Puno.
