Welcome to Bolivia! A representative will greet you at El Alto International Airport (LPB) in La Paz and transfer you to your hotel. We recommend that you take it easy today since there is 50% less oxygen at this altitude, and steady acclimatization is essential to enjoying your trip. Afternoon at leisure.
Today, we will begin the city tour in La Paz, experiencing a unique mix of culture, history, and natural scenery. We will pass through to the witches' market, where you can see medicinal herbs and spices, as well as spiritual and superstitious artifacts. Then we’ll visit the main square of La Paz, Plaza Murillo, and see the most important government buildings around it. We will have lunch in a local restaurant and we will take the cable car from where we will be able to see the fascinating landscapes of La Paz. Finally, we will visit the Moon valley (Valle de la Luna), a fascinating geological anomaly called like this because of its bizarre, moon-like landscape.
After breakfast, you'll be picked up from the hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight to Uyuni. Upon arrival, begin the journey with a short visit to the famed train cemetery, which is full of rusting train cars that were once used to transport minerals and people to and from Uyuni. You'll then continue to the salt-harvesting village of Colchani to see how locals harvest and produce salt. After this, you will reach the vast Uyuni Salt Flats. Visit the bizarre Incahuasi Island, covered in enormous cacti, and enjoy amazing views of the flats.
Enjoy a beautiful sunset in the middle of the endless expanse of glittering salt before returning to Colchani.
After breakfast, you'll continue through the lunar landscapes of the southern altiplano. We will stop at San Cristobal miner village, then continue to Alota valley for lunch. Later we will see amazing rock formations in the stone valley while we arrive to Katal lagoon where we will see a diversity of Andean fauna such as vicuñas, vizcachas and may others. We will continue to Villamar village, where our hotel is located.
After an early breakfast, we will visit the Colored Lagoon where we can see more wild animals, such as flamingos, then you will be able to visit the Geysers Sol de Mañana and take a relaxing dip in the thermal pools of Polques (optional). Once you feel refreshed, you'll visit the Green Lagoon before turn back toward the northeast reaching Uyuni late in the afternoon. You will have the rest of the rest of the evening free.
In the morning, pick-up from your hotel and transfer to the airport to catch the flight back to La Paz. Arrival and rest of the afternoon free.
Additional, we can suggest extra activities or reccommend you some restaurants for dinner.
